OK, for those that use it, the holding tank that came with the boat is way too small.

Has anyone added tankage and if so, where did you put it?

As an alternative to increasing holding tank size, I am considering the Lectra San unit, which is essentially a mini waste treatment system, which is approved in my sailing area as a means of going straight overboard after treatment, which then eliminates the need for a larger tank.     I cannot seem to find the room to put the unit though as compartment with the tank is really tight on space.    I could potentially remove the tank altogether, but would prefer not to do this.    Has anyone installed such a unit?

Thanks.  Jon

I replaced the factory holding tank with a custom made polypropylene one (still located unter the sink). It increased the capacity by about 40%. The limiting factor when you consider this is that the doorway into the head is only about 16" wide. The tank that I had fabricated was designed to the max of this dimesnion without the fittings installed yet. I installed the fittings once tha tank was in the head. This project was done in 2004 and have had no problems with it.

Also, in doing this, I negated the use of the pump that Hanse supplied for pumping out the tank. When I get the tank pumped out it is done through the deck fitting by marina pump-out services that use a vacuum/suction method.

Hi,

I hope the thread is not too old to get an answer.
My holding tank is leaking. I want to dismantle and repair or replace.
However the new solution will be I have no clue how to dismantle the original tank… ?
I cannot find any fittings or similar… Is it just glued with Sika at the bottom? And if so, how to destroy this?
I an looking forward to any hints.

Viel Erfolg.

Hello

I ripped out the head and the original tank two years ago, and changed to a macerating head. Pictures below. I found a tank that just fit the space underneath the bathroom countertop. Its suspended in the ceiling with cargo straps. The bottom of the tank its just above waterline, so gravity will drain it.

Tank: https://webshop.nettbaat.no/products/septiktank-plast-60-liter?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-In--Y_C8wIV2RkGAB1ecg66EAQYAyABEgKoC_D_BwE

There are a lot of hose connections on the discharge line, but this was to avoid bending the hose too much. Bending the hose too tightly (stretching the material) its not good for its permeability. So far it has worked fine.

And by the way. Yes, the old stainless tank is glued to a base plate. What worked well, was driving two long wooded wedges in between the tank and the floor with a hammer. The glue suddenly let go.

I completely removed the old tank and installed a new tank above the waterline. So I don't need a pump. Gravity is enough.
