A certain amount of pre-bend at the top of the mast is what most people aim for (top of the mast bending towards stern slightly), but I wonder if anyone has a rule of thumb as to how much bend there should be. My 411 seems to have quite a bit of pre-bend and I am concerned that it is putting too much strain on the mast. |

Check out the topic "Rigging on 371" in the 371 section of this BB. They're talking about inducing more rake in the mast and also the amount of pre-bend. Bob, 371-#235 |

Thanks, but have had a rigger look over my 411 on Monday. Amazing how much difference it has made, said it was all very slack although to me it did not seem so. Tightened up all round and told me also to loosen the back shroud when not sailing and on the mooring (obviously then tighten it up before sailing) - something that had not occured to me to do before.
