Never used the new boat. But already searching to save energy to help the fridge and pilot.
The main cabin has 9 lights incorporated to the ceiling. That is 9 lights coming on at the flick of the switch. The front cabin has 6 and so one ...reading lights and all.
Using the internet brings many suppliers. Its an easy task to find replacement bulbs at very various prices for apparently the same product.
The question that I cant find is what replaces what as far as luminescense.
Some stores have douzens of lights that are mounted and that we can test. We can also take ours and try them to compare.
Funny thing the Led lights dont seem to glare very far, where the hallogen does.
Has anyone done the exersize to replace with a good result at end.
The 470 2010 has Kando lite 30 degre 12 volt 10 watt capsules
the reading lights are 12 volts 20 .

Its a boat discussion to me and it sets out how often I have to re charge the batteries when at anchor or on a mooring.
On our 430 we have changed 1/2 the lights to Led's and left the rest as halogen this allows us to only use a lower discharge of the batteries when not on the mains electric yet we can get lit up like a Christmas tree when on the mains.
If you change to Led's you have to expect reduced light output until technology improves.

That seems to be a good solution. Which lights did you replace and what did you replace them with?

Charles

I don't know the make but I still have the packaging on the boat so I can let you know next week.

We changed 1 reading lamp in each cabin, 1 reading lamp in the salon, 1 over the Galley and 2 ceiling lights in the saloon. They are replacement lamps that just plug in in place of the halogen bulbs we did this in February 2010 and they cost £16 each from the local chandlers I have noted that they are now around £18 each but I am sure that you can get them cheaper on line.

Hi!
I got short time ago quite tired of LED prices here in Stockholm and started to import them by myself with my friend Henrik84 who is also a member on this forum. He can offer Hanse members prices on LED that you cant get in any store. I would suggest that you check with him as he is running the LED business now.

We are quite many 370 owners that has so far changed all halogens to 9SMD LED and so far happy with the result. The color of the light is quite close to the halogens but little mote whiter.

As it comes to saving electricity the LEDs use approx only 10% of what the halogen does so this summer Im not going to worry about how many lamps are lit in the boat Smile

jeancharleb, have you checked if you have ASU installed in your fridge if its a Isotherm fridge. That would save you a lot of batteries in the long run.

Indeed, now the LED are less expensive if u take it from outside, not shops from your country, uses little energy and it has a great light...
The most cheaper way to get your hands on some LED''s are those thate are made in China!!!

Thanks for all the info. I have just replaced my Halogens with LEDs purchased from Searolf in UK about £9.50 each including next day delivery (www.searolf.com)

I bought 9SMD side pin for ceiling fittings- some red, some warm white and one white for Galley.

For reading lamps I bought 18SMD warm white.

Very pleased with result.
