Coffee!

Are you planning to use it when connected to shore power or are you thinking of using it with an inverter?

The main factor is how many watts the coffee maker takes.

I use my nespresso for several heats on shore power without Amy problems.
I use the krups it uses1260 watts of power , IT fits perfectly in THE cupboard under the sink bevind the garbage bin.

I have a 500 Watt "shore power coffee brewer" that I am also using with an 800 Watt inverter. There is a reason why I still call the coffee "shore power coffee" though.

When making coffee using the inverter it draws 45 A, and the two small cups the brewer makes take 3 Ah off the batteries.

Now, the power of an inverter should not be more than ten percent of the capacity of the battery bank. I have an 180 Watt pure sine inverter that I use for any other task. My battery bank is 200 Ah so the inverter is pretty much the right size.

The reason for not having a bigger inverter is that if you exceed a certain amount of Amperes you take out of a battery the characteristics of the battery change - it gets smaller. I am making an exception for my coffee brewer but I think it takes more from the battery than the 3 Ah the battery monitor shows.

I use the Krups cofeemaker which is 1500 watts directly from the receptacle near the kitchen sink...no problem so far...I am planning to install a huge 2600 Watts inverter to be able to plug in anything that might be required while sailing...question is...where to install it...and where to install a heavy deep cycle battery to feed that monster...

I use a stainless steel french press.  All that is required is boiled water.  No inverter. No battery draw.  Pick your grind and strength and end up with perfect coffee, 2 large cups at a time. Once the water boils it takes only minutes to brew the coffee.
