Hi all,

For a new front sail I would like to extend my genua tracks. I have a hanse from the year 2004.

Does anyone know if this model has the re-enforcements to extend the tracks and if there are any drawings available.

Kind regards,

Michiel

Hi Samba,

On my 411 /2005 I got genua track on the cabin roof as you see on the attached picture. Not the best picture but at least you can see how it is positioned. I am uncertain if it is installed by Hanse or by local dealer in Norway.

Best regards

Kato

Hello Kato,

Thanks for the reply. I have a question. How do the sheets go aft to the winches.

Thanks

Hi Michiel,

I will try to describe, maybe I don’t use the right English words, but trust you understand. You guide the sheets from the forward genoa track down to the lower genoa track wagon and back to the genoa winch. There might be a little contact at the side of the cabin roof, but that friction has not made any damage. I happened to talk to the person mounting the forward tracks, he explained to me as follows: There are aluminum plates in the roof prepared by Hanse. They used bolts with nuts on the inside so had to take down the ceiling plates. Not a complicated job, he claimed Wink

The boat is covered until end of March so presently difficult to get good pictures of the arrangement.

Anyway, hope this will help you Smile

Kato,

Thanks for the good explaination.

Were did you buy the genua tracks? Which brand was that. I also want to install them.

Ps did you have to remove the ceiling plates in the front cabin or the main cabin.

Thanks for your help

Hi Michiel

The make is Frederiksen Boat Fittings (Frederiksen is later taken over by Ronstan). I tried to take some photos, but as the boat is covered the quality was no good. End of March it will be possible Smile. As the tracks are positioned behind the mast it is only the ceiling plates in the main cabin you have to take down.

Hi Jovani,

Thanks for all the useful information. I am also going to install the roof genua track as well. Next weekend I will check if I also have the reinforcements.

Hopefully all finished by the first week of april.

Cheers,

Michiel

Hi Michiel,

Should not be too much work to get it all in place. It would be strange if you don’t have the reinforcement as on my boat. I looked up the original specification when order from Hanse and any extra reinforcement is not mentioned. Wish you luck!

Cheers,
Kato

Hi Kato,

Too bad, but i don't have reinforcements. I will have to make that myself.

I also noticed that i have an extra window in the roof. This gives me less space to install a genua track. How far aft do you need to sheet?

Thanks,

Michiel

Hi Michiel

Pity you didn’t have the reinforcement in place, but it should not be too difficult to arrange with aluminum plates on the inside.

I believe the sheeting length depends on your sail, but the sail I got has a length at the bottom, J length, (underliket in Norwegian, sorry I do not the English word) of 5.0 m. This should give you an idea.

Do you have the 411 sail plan? I tried to copy it in here, but it didn't work. I could PM it to you if  you want it.

Cheers

Kato
