I am considering buying a Hanse. Was originally looking at the 375 but since that is no longer available, anyone have any thoughts on the 415?

Thanks.

I think 415 is one of the most beautiful boat Hanse ever made.
I am thinking of one myself.

I realize that it is brand new but does anyone have any ideas on how she sails? Is she more cruiser or more performance orientated?

She is a hanse , she will be designed for fast cruising.
If you want performance will all the bells and whistles, then pay twice as much for an X, of half as much again for a Dehler.
if you want best value for cruising but not woried about speed then a Bavar.. may be good.

Pap45,

Hi, if you want to experience sailing the 415 before you get one, we are a brand new charter company, with a fleet of brand new 2012 Hanse's, one 445 and 2 415s. We are based in Mallorca, take a look at our website, and let us know if you do fancy a sail around our Islands.  If you mention that you are contacting us from this website, we will gladly give you a 10% discount on your booking.  If you need any other info, dont hesitate to contact us. Happy sailing and we hope to see you aboard one of our 415s soon ;-)

I just bought a Hanse 415. we sailed it now for 4 trips. 6-8 knots and with 14-16 knots (TWS)

I was astounded by the speed. I was worried about this, but my worries are gone.

I will try to match sail with a few other boats of the same length. up till now everything was just a little smaller and we were faster!

Hi Pap45,

You really can't go wrong with a Hanse they are the audi of production boats. Looking at the 415 I would have one in a heartbeat if I didn't love my 411 so much!

Thanks. Which is more performance, the 415 or the 385?

I compared the 2 and also with the 400. all the new models (ending with 5) are a bit more cruisers than racers than the previous version. the 400 is more performance than the newer models. the new models are the first step to the new setup. now Hansegroup is focusing on Dehler for the racers/performance boats and Hanse for the more cruiser/comfort boat.
however!!! don't read this wrong. the Hanses are not slow. the possibilities for sail trimming are more on a Dehler I guess and the boat model is smaller (especially in the aft).

to answer your question: the 415 is faster than the 385. just because it is longer with more sail.
(the 415 is the new version of the 400. search on the internet on how the 400 did. this was very good. so expectations of the 415 are high)

you can compare the polar diagrams on the Hanse website.
