A Hanse 630 (Infinte Diversion) has won cruising division and got line honours in this years Chicago Mac Race. More interestingly it beat all the boats in Turbo Class on corrected time. One boat was a Volvo 70 Il Mostro. Another a Andrews 86.... He had the pedal to the metal!!
I am in Bayview Mac this weekend what are the chances two Hanse's will win Cruising Class? |

Well not quite he crossed the line first and then corrected to last. Being commodore I figure he got his rating changed easily
Anyway we are looking at moderate winds for Sat on the nose! Oh well. mp |

I seem more competitive upwind than downwind Mike so you just need to pray for some stronger breeze! Good luck! Edited by Rubato - 19 July 2013 at 02:18 |

Mike, Infinite Diversion was first in actual time (by more than 15 hours!) but also first in corrected time in the Cruising Division. Suggesting that the owner's position as Commodore of the Chicago YC gets him special preference in a PHRF rating is unfounded and inappropriate. This is a great boat with a great skipper.

Hi
Back from Mac race and cruise we did 7th in Cruise A and 11th overall on 46 boats. Last day was amazing broad reach for 8 hours in 15 -20 knots of breeze then turned corner at Alpena and did 3 gybes with asym over 65 miles up the straight we saw 12.7 knots as a max and lots of 10's and 11's . To Silver Sailor My comment was meant to be funny not nasty guess I missed in this regard, sorry |

No problem Mike. I was a little dense. Great result. Do you think you will do it again next year? If so, please stop in South Haven, MI, my home port on your way to Chicago. A good friend has been urging me to enter Legacy in the cruising division. Next year may be our year. I'll have to give it some thought.
Alan PS I'll work on my sense of humor. |

Hi
Will most likely do Bayview Mac next year. Chicago-Mac is "iffy" its a 300 nm delivery only to turn around within a day and do it again, crusining class leaves Friday night. If I can find a delivery crew that would take the pressure off me and crew once the BYC Mac ends that would work. So bottom line is "we will see." If you are on Mac Island between BYC and CYC Mac there is always the Mac Man race then you cruise home through North Channel. Look on Little Current Yacht Club Web site if you are thinking about it. |

Just found this posting.
Thanks for all of the compliments. We had a great ride and the wind gods were on our side. First triple bullet for me, 1st to finish, first in section and first in division. 3 flags and 3 trophies.
BTW As the Commodore I do not even get dock space!
Joe.

Joe,
Hope you'll get to do the Queens Cup this year. Ends in Muskegon. Return via South Haven and the drinks are on me. Alan |
