Joe, Good Luck and, most important, be safe. We will be cruising north from South Haven beginning Fri AM so we will keep an eye out for you.
Mike, Il Mostro sailed by me in the early stage of the Queens Cup. Winds about 3K. I'm sure it was sailing at over 6K, creating it's own wind. It's a magnificent boat. Incredibly powerful looking. |

You should be able to smoke that Oyster nice boats but awfully heavy
I have a buddy who has one in Vancouver a 62 footer I think. He doesn't race it but he has a nice wine cooler on board with 100 bottles or so in it. Maybe I have my priorities wrong? |

Mike, you have your priorities just right. A great cruiser/racer and a friend with lots of wine. What a combo!

Infinite Diversion, a Hanse 630 is presently the leader in the cruising division of the Chi-Mac Race. That is, it is first but not on corrected time. Winds have died and it's headed North at 1-2K.
For those of you unfamiliar with the Chicago to Macinaw Island Race, here's some info: this is the 106th running; it's 333 miles long; 333 boats competing; may be the oldest fresh water distance race in the world; begins in Chicago, Illinois, USA and ends 333 miles north at Macinac Island, MI. Infinite Diversion has entered and won the cruising class in each of the last 2 yrs. It is one of 3 Hanses on Lake Michigan. The others being a H-400 located at the South Shore YC in Milwaukee (owner/name unknown) and my H370e. |

Hi
Back from race and cruise Had a great race until wheels fell 40 miles from finish we were in 2,3 or 4 all race (no one was going to catch the boat in 1st). Sunday night when it was time to put up our one and only spinnaker (the is other is a code 0) we found it was ripped and the call was made that it was not reparable so we dropped to 9th. In morning when we could reach we made up one spot finishing 8 in our class and 12 overall. So bad luck continues to haunt us. But I had great crew including a young lady with Open 60 experience, my son and stowaway called "somebody" who kept causing a ton of trouble down below. You know the complaints "Somebody moved my rain gear!!! "Somebody drank my beer!!"" |
