Hi,
the racing Division is started today. The Cruising Division will start on Tuesday, because of a bad Weather forecast (30+ knots)!! |

Coral IV is a member but does not contribute; nice bloke and a good boat, sailed with him on Rally Portugal.
The 530 called savana or something similar has posted a few times and was a help to me a few years ago on a PM The 460 with a name with Lorne in is not a member as far as i know but he had a 370 or 400 that he did the ARC in a couple of years ago. may be a bit of a charter business. Simon |

Savarna has led class a for several days a 531, and Zabava has had the lead in class c for several days.
With only a few hundred miles to go it is looking good for Hanse. Simon |

You may be interested to know that we completed the ARC cruising class A in first place on both line and handicap. The crossing time was 13 days, 16 hours, 41 minutes giving an average speed of 8.4 knots based on the distance we sailed. We carried two A sails but they got less than 12 hours use all told. Mostly two sail reaching or a poled out headsail. We used a105% overlapper all the way. Our top speed was 21.4 knots.
The event is very much downwind and a better option or us would have been a 1.5 ounce chute that we could carry comfortably on 20 knots plus. We used Predict Wind for weather routing and that pointed us to a northerly route rather than the recommended route of sw until the butter melts and then turn right. We had plenty of wind all the way - highest gusts to 37 knots and lowest 15 knots for a few hours so mostly in the 20's. We were second fastest in the cruising divisions (excluding racing and invitation cruising divisions). The fastest boat was a Swan 48 with a full male crew on board. Overall an excellent event, very well run and organised. Cheers Keith |
