Hi Pieter
Sounds good----I shall come over & inspect it 10 August 2019 when I come for the Paulusfeesten
Might even buy that coffee I owe youWink
Samuel

Hi Samuel,
You're always very welcome in Ostend. I'm looking forward to the coffee, and perhaps a Brugse Zot as well.
Pieter

Wife & daughter are coming this time, but they refuse to come for the paulusfeesten so will arrive by train on the last day. They claim that they have "taste" in music. I am not sure that i agree, but we shall see. Looking forward to 3/4 weeks in Ostend. Just need Simon to find me a decent berth.

Pieter
Where are keeping the boat to do this work? Are you in a building alongside the Visserijdok or have you moved the boat to Blankenberge?

Hi Pieterman,

Very interested in your painting project, could you please confirm what paint you have used.
It would appear that this has been hand painted not sprayed?
Any advice would be very welcome as my light blue hull is very sad looking

Regards

Keith

I had the same fading blue gel-coat color. I did everything to get the luster back. Finially I had my boat painted with Awlgrip in 2014. Without ANY polishing or cleaning it looks as good today as it did when it was freshly painted.

Hi Blaven,
these are the steps we followed to paint the hull:
- good sanding
- fill little holes with epoxy glue
- epoxy primer (the lighter grey you see on the previous pictures I posted in this thread)
- sanding (almost all of the primer was sanded - picture with the taped stripes)
- taping
- after that: a cycle of paint-sanding-taping (3 layers)
- before applying the last and fourth layer (next weekend) we will ground the boat to have the least static electricity and so avoid dust.

More pictures to come after the weekend.
