I know this is now a very old thread, but several things have changed on Tangleberry that affect this issue.
Handling the main is now pure pleasure, Reefing was also improved with new 8mm reef lines which again reduced friction. |

They are just regular double-braid polyester, but smaller than the original 12 mm/1/2" that Hanse used for almost everything.
Stretch is not a big problem since, when reefed, the reef line is relatively short. Hi-tech lines are worthwhile for the halyards, but I can't see the need on most of the other lines.
