I feel the gas lever on the Hanse 411 very hard. Someone had the same problem? Change the gas cable with one more flexible can be a solution?

Hi,

I have no problems with mine gas lever on our 411. We have a volvo engine. Do yuo have a Volvo or Yanmar engine? On one boat I have had before I have had the same problem. The solution than was to "reroute" the cable and look after sharp curves and the mountage on the engine it selv.

Thank for the answer, Erno.

My engine is a Yanmar 56.

I'll check to reroute the cable, but normally they don't have sharp curves.

I have serious problem with the gas lever. It has broken! My engine is YANMAR.

The cause is the sharp curve that the cable has to do to reach the engine.

Hi all

My 411 with Yanmar engine has a very sticky gear lever. Ok going into reverse but very stiff going into forward.  I looked at the cable curve which is near 90 deg behind the lever.  The solution is to re-route the cable but I can't see any way of doing this.  Has anybody got their method of fixing this problem.

Hi Stephen,

finallly I solved the problem.

I changed the gear lever, I take one from Plastimo, but I think also one from volvo will work well. I changed also the cable, with a longer one.

Hi all

Gas cable broke on Thursday as the forum had predicted.  Lucky 411 is still in warranty. The engineer reported that Hanse used the wrong type of cable as it's bent too much beyond its specification within the tight space and replaced it with a more flexible type. Also reported that the gear cable is about to break.  I have submitted a warranty claim to Hanse to cover the material costs.  If all 411 are fitted with the same 'C' type push/pull cable then more owners will experience a break hopefully not when entering a harbour at night with a strong tidal set!

Wish I'd read this a week ago! Had it happen to me three days ago going into a new harbour for the first time, just as well a charter boat with a competent skipper was just behind us and towed us in.

Can anybody provide me with the make and specification of the replacement, and/or how the new cable was re-routed?

Cheers
