Hello to my new community…

We closed on a 345 and are transporting the boat from the New England to South Texas, USA. One thing I know, we must add an AC to the boat for survival

I’ve looked around and have not found any pictures of a 345 or 348 with an AC. I’m wanting some ideas of where to locate the unit(s). I’m hoping to minimize the loss of storage, while optimizing circulation.

Equipment suggestions also appreciated.

I would appreciate some insights.

If 34X have factory AC options, its not complicated to find optimal locations, look at saloon, front and aft cabins for precuts in shelves and walls, those are for ac ductwork. Then its easy to imagine the equipment layout. If its saloon, most likely the compressor goes under bench so you can take a ruller and measure the area to see which units can fit, dometic, webasto, so on, they have many sizes to choose from. In front cabin you can fit it under bed, port, starboard, front. I have seen on youtube some folk fit it in a locker, but not Hanse. Aft cabins - if you have void behind, thats another option. Make sure to allow space for electronic control box, its big and has to be close to the compressor. Pay attention that the ac pump(s) have to be below the water line, the deeper the better. You also need a separate shore line with breakers etc. For the optimal cooling/heating capacity, you need to calculate the room volume and account for climate zone where you sail, Texas means hot. For reference I installed 3 ac units (front 10KBTU, saloon 16KBTU, aft 10KBTU) on my 458, equatorial climate, pretty happy with overall power.
