I’ve engaged (whom I believe to be) a very experienced marine mechanic to service the saildrive gasket (VP130S). The boat is a 2014 345. His approach is to pull the engine forward (VP D1-20). Even with the engine forward, he is telling me that the saildrive will not come out unless he greatly increases the size of the hole in the hull. He believes that the drive must be separated from the gear and drop down. He does not think the gear with attached drive will come up and rotate aft sufficient to be removed.

Q: Are there any forum members that have replaced their VP saildrive gasket; and if so, what was the sequence of your approach.

Thank you all for your counsel!

We have a 2016 345 with D1-30 and 130S saildrive. The gasket was replaced a year before we bought her, so I don’t know exactly how it was done. However, they did have to move the engine forward, and I’m pretty certain there was no enlargement of the hole. Good luck…

I can confirm that we were able to remove and replace the saildrive gasket on a 2014 345 after removing the engine and removing the lower gear drive shaft / spline. The saildrive can come up though the available hole in this configuration.
