Water coming into the middle cabin celling

   Hi

I am new to
the forum, but I hope to get some input on a problem. I have on a Hanse 325 and
discovered water coming into the middle cabin celling (see picture). The location of the leak
is between the two small plates that surround the support pool for the mast. There
has been heavy rain in the areas the day before I came onboard and discovered
the leak. I have some question I would appreciate to get some feedback on

-          - Do
any other in the forum experience such a leak? In case yes what was the cause?

-          - I
think I need to remove the two plates for inspections, do anyone have a god approach
how to remove them?

	Those panels are removable to disconnect/connect cables to the mast My guess is the swan neck or the mast foot is leaking if you get water in that way you check the aft cabin hatch as it’s sometimes bad seal from the factory When removing those panels dry it carefully then get a helping hand to spray water round the mast foot and swan neck preferably not a pressure washer as that may cause more leaks Regards jonas Edited by Jojo - 22 September 2023 at 15:40

	Hi Jonas Thank you for the reply. I did as you recommended; removed the panels and used a water hose to spray around the hatch, mast foot and the goose neck. No water leakage was spotted. Only when we sprayed into the goose neck. I assume that the bad weather and unfavourable wind lead the water in trough the goose neck. It is a new boat for me, so I don’t have much experience with it. But I had the last owner with me on the test and he claimed that he has never seen such a leakage. He used ta different marina where the intake of the goose neck has been protected for direct wind. The wood on the panel was in perfect condition, so I assume that this has not been a problem earlier. Have anyone on the forum made a modification on the goose neck to prevent this from happening? The quick fix now was a plastic bag over the goose neck, but I am looking for something more professional. Best regards Jan

	We have had similar problem. I changed the goose neck to a bigger one a couple of years ago, and now it is much easier to handle the cables. At first, I though it is a good way to improve the ventilation through the deck, too. Unfortunately, we got water in during heavy rains. Nowadays, we put a piece of plastic foam inside the goose neck after installing the cables.

	I had this problem on our 320. The cause was water running over the cables and when windy being blown through the swan neck and into the area you highlight. I tied cable ties at different positions on the cable to break up the flow of water and put tape over the opening of the swan neck. Not a drop since. Hope this helps John

	I found mine was leaking between deck and swan neck. I removed it, ground off the deck pimples and re sealed it. Leak fixed.
