New Anchor bow roller for Hanse 430

   New anchor-roller

Some years ago I manage to destroy my anchor-roller in my 430.

I was a bit in doubt about how to fix that.
 - Should I try to repair the flimsy original anchor-roller? 
It was already slightly bent when I bought the boat and I thought it did not look solid enough for the task.
 - Maybe make a new one in thicker material with the original as basis?
Tempting, but as I don't know any who could do this for me, I expect the price to become high....
 - Try to source a second hand used one...?
	Tempting as a quick and cheap fix, but will not be stronger than the original one.
 - Install something like Idelfix described in another post here some years ago.
Would probably have gone for something like this if I did not already had a bow ladder. Did also read somewhere that these large structures might be damaged by large waves.
 - Find some alternative anchor roller with heavier design that could replace the original one in the same position.
I was looking at a lot of the available anchor rollers in the marked and finally found one that I liked and that looked to be a good fit.
That was the Ultra bow roller for the 27 kg anchor from Ultra Marine.

Expensive, but looked bigger and more solid than the original.
To be sure to have an anchor that fit it, I also splurged and ordered their 27 kg Ultra Anchor. I do not regret that even if the old one did fit and could be used.

The montage took some time, as I had to transfer and drill the bolt holes, and also choose to weld on the aft lip from the original anchor-roller. (Should have practiced my TIG welding a bit more first...)

I also choose to do some reinforcement under the deck since I expected the longer new roller would create some larger forces there.

Was a bit worried that the anchor would interfere with the bow-ladder, but thankfully it did not.

Very happy with the new setup, but a bit surprised that the middle fitting holding the anchor down is only for stopping rattling and not for securing it.
A hook is included in the delivery for that, and I fastened that next to the winch.

Now I only need to save up for a new shiny anchor chain that fits this new anchor setup....

	Not sure id like all of that on the bow of my 430. Id expect it to break in big seas and please dont take this the wrong way but why do you need a bow ladder when you have a stern ladder?

	The bowladder is useful when doing what we might call Scandinavian mooring. The waves and tidal differences are smal enough here to be able to use a stern anchor and tie up the bow towards land.
