As you may know my brother and I ordered a Hanse 385 at the Southampton Boat show. Since then in the eternity between ordering and delivery, some time in Feb I believe, we have scoured the internet and mag's to find articles and photos of this model. Appart from the official photos and one article there has been very little. As we were on the holiday of a lifetime in Sydney Australia last week with our families we decided to see if there was one about. We had seen several Hanse's sailing around. We looked up Windcraft and found them to be told they had just had delivered their first 385 for one of their customers. This needed to be prepared before being put in the water, but we were more than welcome to have a look. So we did and here are the photo's. Jon. Tilt your heads straight again, I should have found the rotate function! It looks like industrial espionage but in fact we did have permission thanks to the very helpful staff at Windcraft. Jon.

The Hanse 385 was reviewed in the Dec 2011 Yachting Life, which is the Yaching magazine for the North of the South; ie it is published in Scotland. Contact info@yachtinglife.co.uk. We went on the 385 at the London Boat Show and preferred it to the 355.

Jon, She looks a lovely craft, - you dont have long to wait until your delivery. Please make sure you put some of your pictures up here, but make sure you rotate them first, as i now have a crick in my neck.
Martin & Rene, - I get that magazine, I think it is a great magazine, there is also a magazine on the anchorages around God's country, that I find great. Shame that England does not produce auch a magazine........

I like the design of the cradle, you get full access to the below water section for anti fouling with out the upright pads getting in the way and having to be done just before re launch.

I don't like this kind of design at all as there's virtually no vertical hull support at all, the boat has all the weight on the keel which isn't very healthy for some critical parts of superstructure...I have a better design...

Windsurfer, I think you have the best cradle anyone with a hanse can have.

As far as I remember Kirkelund has got a stainless steel thing which never rusts while mine does after just 1,5 years of standing on the beach...I will have to repaint it with a good quality paint (cheap stuff doesn't last)...I wish it was all stainless so that I will not have to spend days painting...
