Hanse spec's the Delta 22lb for the 371. Is it big enough? What is everyone using? Do other anchors fit the bowroller well?

Hi 371-#235, I have a 411 in Australia which arrived in December. I am using a Manson 35 lb from New Zealand and consider it too light for a 411. For a 371 however I would use a 35lb. The problem with the Hanse anchor set up is that the anchor locker is quite close to the bow. The anchor arm must therefore be shorter so as to allow the hatch to shut and this usually means a smaller anchor. I am surprised at the Hanse recommendation of the Delta 22. In Australia that would be considered dangerously small for a 37 ft yacht. I suspect it has a short arm and fits snuggly. I leave my 35 lb in the locker and pull it out when needed. Chris C |

I have the next size delta up from the standard spec and it fits in the bow roller fine.
The standard spec delta should be ok - don't forget that the delta's weight to holding strength ratio is better than for other anchors .. e.g. a 16lb delta supposedly does the job of a 22lb CQR. The delta supplied is the one reccommended by the manufacturers for the size of boat. But if you intend to do lots of anchoring you should certainly consider something larger - the biggest you can carry the better - and have a second anchor on board too. Anyway, there's no trouble stowing the bigger delta on the bow and there is plenty of room inside the anchor locker should you find an anchor that doesn't fit on the bow. |

Thanks Marcus, I will order the 35lb Delta. The boat is shipping from Greifswald on March 25 and will be here mid-April. Getting harder to sleep at night. Bob |

Thanks You all, I was going to order a 10kg delta but didn't feel at ease with this decision; I'll go for the 16kg one.
Mine is going to arrive on July here in sunny Italy. Kind regards, Luca.
