The Admiral has now mandated that we install air-conditioning next time we haul the boat.  I am trying to figure out where I can run the duct work to simultaneously cool the main cabin, V berth and port quarterberth.

Anyone have AC on their boat?

How about forced air heating system?

Any suggestions?

I had my boatyard install a system for my 371 last year.    We went with a split system, whereby we mounted a 16,000 btu compressor into the aft cockpit locker.    We built a mount for it in the aft portion of the boat (near the steering column in that deep area of locker).     We went with 2 small compressor units, one mounted in the closet of the port aft berth area and the other mounted in the locker area under the main salon.    The aft compressor essentially just cools the port berth area and we ran a duct into the head.     The salon unit cools the salon area and heads into the v berth area by running duct through the upper portion of the stbd v berth closet.     Thin copper piping runs from the compressor to each condensor so we did not have problems finding space we would have had with the larger duct pipes.    We have minimal duct pipe in this system.    We used a Marine Air system.     We have the 2 condensor units draining into a float box that automatically shoots the water overboard through the shower discharge.    I wanted to keep the bilge dry so this system worked well.    All in all, it has worked out well so far.

Of course - a split system is perfect for this application.

Thanks.
