The attachments are all side release, adjustable buckle straps.

It doesn't overlap the bimini, but it does attach to the frame with similar straps (don't have a picture of that).  Instead, it is scalloped back.

My bimini is not the factory one, though.

Check out the dodgers from Iverson, they make super solid frames with various grab rail options, they are fixed though and not foldable.  Might at least get some ideas.  https://www.iversonsdesign.com/itop.html

In the PNW this is the fabricator of choice for dodgers/ biminis.

Not sure they are still servicing the SF Bay Area but worth giving it a try, they are top quality.

We looked into Iverson and they would not serve us in SoCal.

Went with a local shop, recommended by the dealer.
Not entirely satisfied with the design and craftsmanship.
Glass is good, steel frame good, design & stitching not.

Already need to have repair work in The Bay Area and will take it as a learning.
(glad to have at-least had the dodger installed for the drive north from San Diego Last week)

Who made your current dodger_. I just made the trip south from Seattle to Marina Del Rey and looking to have my Bimini and Dodger reskinned... I may want to stay away from the folks that made your dodger if you are not happy with the quality of the work.
