Hi, my ST1000+ seems to be done. I am considering to upgrade with Raymarine EVO100. Any experience you guys made with it? For the controle panel p70s I am thinking to install it right of the companionway (picture). Any surprises I have to expect? It seems, there is a plastic mold underneath the laminate?! Any space between? Other ideas? Appreciate you feedback Best Martin ![]() |

My P70 fits neatly inside a waterproof electic box obtained from an electrical wholesaler. I have it mounted behind the tiller because it is easy to reach when at the helm. It sits below the chart plotter.I know that the 301 does not have the same amount of room at the stern but it should not be rocket science to make a bracket to take the box. Then the instrument will fit in the box lid. The wiring can be accessed in a minute by removing the 4 lid screws It has the benefit that crew will not sit in front of it, thus leaning on the buttons etc. It is easy to see the screen from the helm. Also one will be at the helm when engaging, disengaging the ram so it would be easy to press the buttons at the same time. This would avoid you having to reach forward from the windward port side to the lower stbd side where you are proposing whilst engaging the ram. The plug for the ram is underneath, My chart plotter & AIS sits on top for same reason & can be swivelled for easy viewing

Pity. The 301s that I have seen, have the locker in front of the tiller. I helped a friend of mine fit one to a boat that had a split pushpit & he put a 100*12 mm deep plastic rail, that I supplied, across from the 2 uprights & fitted his to that. He did consider putting it on the front of the lid of the locker box under the tiller.

Hi Martin, there is no problem mounting the instrument where you propose, or in fact either side of the companionway. I have a 7-inch MFD mounted in your red square in my 301 and a Garmin GPS in the same position port side. In both positions the inner moulding is just a liner and there are no structural considerations (the stern bulkhead is the back wall of the stern berth not the companionway wall in the coachroof). You will probably have to route cabling above the headliners which just drop down as panels. Hope this helps.
