Cable pulling through Pedestal on H400 2006

   I have a Hanse400 from 2006. Recently I bought a n Axiom 9+ and need to pull a NMEA2000 backbone cable down through the Pedestal, through port side from art port cabin, the head and shower and eventually ending in the area under the instrument panel behind the battteries. That is where I have located the seatalk to seatalkng converter.
Is there anyone who has done this who can explain how I get through the pedestal and further on? Do I have to disassemble the pedestal?

	On mine (Hull #31 launched 2006) the MFD cables in the ‘pod’ route into either of 2 holes in the SS hoop that supports the pod. They then route into the fibreglass part of the pedestal then down into watertight cable glands near the autopilot motor on Port side of the autopilot underfloor well. When in the lazarette below you can see these cables emerge into the lazarette space almost above your head (assume your looking in from the aft cabin hatch). From there the cables route around the lazarette space & down to the hull. They enter ducting near the exhaust hose and that routes to under the port aft wardrobe. There are conduits through that bulkhead. The cables then route above the seacocks and into the next bulkhead conduits to end up under the nav station area. Access to the conduits between the heads and the aft cabin wardrobe is much easier if you’ve added an opening access hatch to the left of the standard under-basin cupboard door. Complicated to write but not that difficult in practice. If you are really stuck let me know and I’ll try to get some photos uploaded for you. Hulls from this era seem to have had a fair few variations in the pedestal solution but the cable routing is similar to the best of my knowledge. Maybe others can pass on their experience too? Mark

	Thanks,first, how do I get the cable through the «fiberglass part of the Pedestal» without dismantling the pedestal? Lasse

	I have hull 98 from 2006. If you remove the compass you will see that there are openings in the piedestal. From memory, the cable glands also extends up in the piedestal. My boat was equipped with Simrad IS12 that is Simnet/NMEA2000 and the backbone was aready there.

	As Jeb says via the compass hole, or in my case I have a couple of instruments mounted to the pedestal and removing one or both would be my route in. Mark

	Thanks, I removed the compass and got good acces to the cable tube down to the autopilot area,just like you wrote, then through the cable bulkhead gland into aft compartment and further on to the area behind batteries. For information, this cable is needed to connect to the seatalk1/seatalkng converter/backbone if you want to connect axiom to autpilot using seatalk1.
