Hi Guys, i purchased my 430e a year ago and have been systematically getting rid of the leaks i can see on board. However 1 big one remains. Its a fresh water leak and it fills the sump under the engine in the white grid. It also makes its way under the stbd side cabin bed around the fuel tank. Ive checked and can see it appears to be travelling from behind the engine near the hot water tank. Has anyone had similar experiences? I'd love some help, im pulling my hair out. Thanks in advance.

I assume you have an accumulator or plumbed expansion tank for the calorifier pressure relief valve?  A forum search will throw up many reports and solutions.  Good luck Paul

Thanks Paul for your reply. the main thing is that ive used the boat a few times lately and have gotten zero fresh water or salt water in the bilge or the sump under the engine. However we had a lot of rain on Friday night and Saturday all day in Sydney and i strongly believe this is the issue. I cant comment on your reply as i really dont understand it. Its not coming from the water heater as it wouldve come earlier. Its when it rains that i get the water in, its not coming in through the hull/ deck joint or anywhere vissible in the cabins or saloon. Tried to upload video but didnt work.

Any chance it’s coming in via the Lazarette? I’m in Seattle and we get our share of rain. Occasionally I get water in the lazarette from the drain lines being partially clogged.

I’ve had success tracing leaks using strategically placed paper towels or toilet paper.

Hi Issywa,

Im thinking you may be right partially but she was just out of the water and should have been checked but i'll get something to clean the drain holes out and also blast them with a hose. I also have a vent behind the wheel on port side thats not directly connected to the engine room that may be contributing as well. Its one of those 'star' type vents.

Hi AussieAngus

Check also around the pushpit bases, stanchion bases,  and the bolts holding the Autopilot drive unit, as they  all leak into the lazarette. Best suggestion is to get into the lazarette during heavy rain and look for the leaks.  There are currently lots of opportunities to do that in Sydney lately.

Thanks DJ im thinking your right i do see some water in the lazerette floor after rain. I sealed around the steering pedestals, other penetrations (screw holes) and ladder bracket holes. I'll look at the pushpit and see if its leaking. Its hard for me to get into lazerette as im 6ft3'' and 125kgs! i can get my head in but thats about it. I also have a 2nd water tank in the lazerette which is attached to the wall where the steering gear is.
