Dear All
After being away from my boat for a few weeks.I started up my nav devices and find that all sources AIS,Auto Pilot Triton2 displays,RC42 compass and Wind instruments show "offline" in the Devices Sources page on my Zeus S MFD's.I have3 tried repopulating but to no avail.I also note that the green power light on my NEP-2 seems to be very dull. I am wondering if this could be the problem. How would and where would the NEP-2 likely get its power from.Wireing behind my Wurth panel is all extremely tight and very difficult to trace individual wires so if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated Best regards to all Duncan

The NEP-2 is a network hub which mainly shares chart and radar data between your MFD’s and radar dome. All other. Communication is via the NMEA backbone. If you have chart data on both of your MFD’s as well as radar data, then likely your NEP-2 is good. In that case I would look at interruption somewhere on the NMEA backbone wiring.

I have exactly the nep-2 failure in this very moment.
this device is an ethernet switch with a different connector and cable format. the device has its own power port, and it connects the two mfd between each other (for sharing waypoints and charts), the radar , the forward sonar (on my boat). if it fails all this functionality is lost...if you have a subset of this, then you can search for some specific port issue. On my boat the device is behind the worth , but all the way towards the hull...so access is from the drawer below or preferably from the door holding the vhf...

I’ve had a previous problem where I was not getting chart data on one of my MFD’s. I turned out to be a bad Ethernet cable. I was able to trouble shoot it by using a long cable and bypassing the existing cables one by one. Based on what Duncan describes, I do think it is NMEA issue.

my apologies I got transported by the title : I was wrong and Arcadia is (as usual ) right .if you miss AIS data and windvane , the nep-2 is innocent. This data is only transported on the nmea2000 network...

Dear All
As Stated the NEP 2 is innocent and I have an NMEA problem stemming from the connection to the DST 800 (old metal connection very corroded).A PCB board in my wind vane and a faulty Zeus S still under guarantee. All being sorted.Once again all comments are very useful and get the brain working in the right direction. Many thanks Duncan
