   Cutty Stark cruises comfortably at 6.5 knotts...in non tidal flat seas with the standard 10hp Volvo and the standard 2 blade prop. Fastest over ground speed recorded was 15 knotts going through the shoots on the Severn Estury.  The late Jack Smith advised me that the 10hp was perfectly adequate to hit hull speed in calm conditions and that if it was not calm you would be sailing or motor sailing anyway.....how right he was !
