Hi,
Like most of you i have THE standard selftacking jib. In most conditions it is great. Sometimes when sailing with THE wind in our BAck i get crazy grom THE BAck and forward sliding tacker. I am considering getting blocks on THE genuatracks to have à choice beteren selftacking and 'normal' sheets. Anyone who can tell me what tips and size i need? I have THE 2008 370. My 2008 370 came with genoa cars--don't know the size. It's easy to use "normal" sheets with the self-tacker when sailing broad reaches and running. You can leave the self-tacker sheet attached, but with lots of slack. Attach the new sheet into the bowline knot of the self-tacker sheet at the jib clew. Move the genoa car all the way forward on the track. Use a whisker pole for even better sail stability and control.

If you are having problems sheeting the self tacker when reaching there is a simple solution. Normally the genoa sheet cars cannot be moved far enough forward to get a good sheeting angle so you need a sheet hooked to the gunwale in front of the sliding ST track
If you have a cruising chute you can use the adjustable chute downhaul. Just lead it from the bow & through a block attached to the gunwale then up to the clew of the ST to form a type of barber hauler
When you let the ST sheet out the clew wants to ride up. To counteract this you just pull on the barber hauler until the clew is at the correct angle.
Ideally you need one each side but if you are off the wind you are not likely to be tacking so just use the chute down haul & disconnect it if you want to change tacks.
To stop the ST flapping from side to side on the run I have a couple of hooks tied to cords - one each end of the track. Just hook one to the ST car & it holds it on one side or the other. This is also handy when the jib is fully furled because you hook the car , pull the jib sheet tight & when you go forward for mooring etc you have a handhold

I was af idee by the local Hanse dealer that the costs of these sliding blocks are € 395,50 each.
