My 371 had a few keel bolts that required a little tightening.     From the various removeable access panels in the cabin sole, I can see 5 keel bolts (2 are easy to get to and 3 require a little more work).    Does anyone know if there are more that are not visible from the access panels?

Also, has anyone removed the fixed portions of the sole for better access to things?      And if so, how easy/difficult was this to do.

Thanks.  Jon

Hi Jon.
You say a few keel bolts need a little tightening.

What are the symptoms that they need tightening?

Regards
Mike

Mike:    My boat yard checked them over the winter in connection with routine maintenance of the boat.    The 2 bolts that are very accessible were not loose to the touch, but the yard was able to tighten them some with a tool.    Seemed prudent to try and check the rest of them.    As I mentioned, you can see 5 of them through the access panels.    Hoping that is all of them but I was not sure.

Hi Jon.
On my 371 2002. I've looked at my keels bolts yesterday. The aft 3 are in a triangle. The forward 2 are in-line and I colud only see using them a fibreoptics borescope.

Do your boat have access panels above all 5 bolts? Only one of my 5 nuts (the aft most) is directly uncovered by a panel!

Does your boat have an aluminium spreader plate beneath the stainless steel (SS) nuts to the SS bolts?

Regards
Mike

Mike:    All 5 bolts that I can see are relatively close to an access panel in the floor.   2 of the bolts are much more accessible than the other 3.    I have not been to the boat in a few weeks, but my recollection is that all of them are attached to a stainless steel plate.    Hopefully that is all of them.

Hi Jon.
Do you know what tool the boatyard used to check the tightness of the nuts to the keelbolts.

This 46mm Slogging Wrench (you hit it with a hammer)is the best I can find.

Mike
