I have sunscreens made by Ocean air. I think we all do on our 575. Due to use and abuse, I have a couple that need to be replaced or repaired with a new pleated sun shade.
What are the options here? I'm not opposed to replacing them all with a different design /manufacture. Have you replaced the pleated sun screen and mesh screen? |

I was able to open mine up and replace a spring that had broken, rendering it inoperable. It looked like salt spray had worked its way into the mechanism and the spring rusted. With a bit of fiddling, yours may be repairable. Be patient and be prepared to work with strings and little blocks and potentially little bits that have rusted.
Eventually, more internal bits rusted and the screen began to decompose, and I replaced it with an identical one via OceanAir. There’s a label with a serial number inside and the US folks are helpful in terms of pricing out a new one. The forward screens on the 505 have a bend in them and are very expensive - as I recall around $800US, and delivery was about 4 weeks from the UK. I kept the old one as a spare for parts. I think the screens without a bend are less costly. Edited by kipwrite - 06 November 2020 at 20:06 |
