I bought Cutty Stark with just the standard electrics by Simrad. I had a Simrad DSC radio fitted before launching and this year will have a fixed GPS fitted to connect it all up. I was wondering whether to have the GPS fitted below or on deck beside the compass and single instrument head but have discovered that it can be wired into the Simrad system making use of the instrument head as a repeater so I plan to fit the GPS below. Has anyone else done this !

Hello, I just bought a Hanse 312 and I have the same Problem. The extra Multi / Combi Displays are very expensive, so I think about a furuno GP32 for the cockpit. You don't have the highway display with the simrad displays. On the other hand it's not very nice to have a different style instrument next to the simrad displays and the compass. It's hard to decide for me. It is definetly no problem to connect the GPS via NMEA to your IS15 System! Kind regards, Thomas. |

Hi, I did exactly the same with my hanse 301. I fitted a Garmin gps down below and interfaced it with the IS15 using NMEA. A very simple mod and very useful as I sail short handed with a young crew. Its good to know where you are without going below! Regards Matt |

I did this too. Very easy and a neat solution.

I bought a Furuno 32: nice design very good display inkluding WAAS EGNOS. The 152 is also ok, it was more or less a design question. The 128 is without WAAS EGNOS. thomas |
