Corroded shroud/mast fittings

   I recently had the rig checked and retensioned.  The riggers pointed out the following fault that affects the junction of the top shroud to the mast.  As it is so high up I had not noticed it from the ground:
"The capshroud shell backing plates show signs of severe rusting possibly due to not being electro-polished.  Also the mast wall is reacting with the affected shell backing plates."
 The boat is just over two years old.  Hanse UK are looking into it, with Sparcraft, I assume.  I am told that it is not an immediate worry in safety terms but that it should not have happened and needs addressing to avoid problems in the long run. 
Has anyone else experienced similar problems?
