Hi, Having looked far and wide for a 301, I can now report that I have finalised purchase of a 2 yr old 311..bit more money than I had..what the hell..only here once.

Anyway help needed from any seasoned users:

Where or how does the heads floor tray drain. Drain hole but no evidence of an exit to outside?

I want to fit a raymarine C70 plotter with fishfinder module. Can I use the transducer that is currently fitted to standard I15 Simrad.

Any comments on the Raymarine wheel steer 4000?

Also want to fit Eberspacher D2 airtronic which I have. Hanse ,I think fit a Webasto. Where is it best to site it and where do Hanse put the various ducts and exhausts?

What size is the Spinnaker on the 311. I have been offered a second hand North off a Westerly and wonder if it will work on the 311.

My boat is currently at Port Edgar, Edingburgh. Due to go back in the water in April so quite exited about getting things ready for the launch.

Kind regards to all.. Warren

Hi Warren,

I don't know where the heads floor drain goes. Mine doesn't seem to drain anywhere but if you had a shower fitted the sump pump clearly goes under there and would need to be accessible for maintenance.  You need to lift the floor in the main cabin to investigate I think.

I don't think transducers are generally compatible with other manufacturers.

I have a Raymarine 4000 wheel pilot. It is less obtrusive and more robust I think than the Simrad. Also it can be easily removed with the wheel if you want more space in port. You can connect it with another make of instrument by NMEA (but one only). Any further non Raymarine instruments need a special interface costing about £100. Raymarine instruments connect directly by the seatalk connection. I have a Raymarine wind instrument (seatalk), a Garmin GPS(NMEA) and I have connected the Simrad depth/log by NMEA/seatalk interface.

Hanse fit the Webasto heater in the large locker behind the heads. They run one duct through the engine compartment to the aft cabin and the other duct runs behind the heads/chart table/battery compartment to an outlet under the port settee/berth opposite the table. The exhaust exits through the transom at high level on the port side.

The hanse has a very tall mast (approx. 42 feet) for its length. If you have a spinnaker from a similar length Westerly it may be slightly short but I guess that doesn't matter too much.

Best wishes for the launch.

Kind Regards

Alan

Hello,

just a brief answer from me, later I will post some photos!

1) The bathroom drains to the space just under the big locker (there it comes out and I think there would be the pump wich I don't have). There is also the electric wiring just behind the grey-water-tank.

2) The webasto heating is mounted on a plastic plate which is glued with sikaflex to the hull with just some very small screws. I will show some photos. Hanse mounted the hot air pipes and the wiring for me (for just a few Euros) and I bought the heating somewhere else. That saved me 2000 EUR. It was very painful to drill the big hole for the exhaust. The diesel pipe goes from the tank (the second crane is locked with sika behind the first fitting!!!!) along the engine exhaust pipe thru the bulkhead in the back locker and than upway to the port side and then again thru the bulkhead to the heating.

3) I orderd a Gennaker from Dolphin Sails for my boat (I will also send some photos) which is about 76sqm. A Spinnaker is nearly the same! I'm very happy with my gennaker!!!

4) For the fish finder you need a very different transducer which is more like a small camera to look forward.

Kind regards,

Thomas 312#192 "Sprookje"
