Anyone relocated/reposition the primary fuel filter?  On the Hanse 415s, it is factory installed in the starboard aft cabin under the bunk.   It is hard to get to, check, or service.  I would love to find a better solution.  Anyone any ideas or suggestions?

Totally agree almost impossible place to check and work on so we moved the primary fuel filter to the engine bay. It is on the opposite side of the same bulkhead originally bolted to. This gives perfect access from main stbd inspection hatch. We also added a glass bowl to the unit so you can visually check alls good.

That sounds like a great solution. Do you have any pics that you could post? And which engine do you have? Yanmar or Volvo?

If you have any pictures that would be awesome.  Did you install a new primary filter or is there upgrade available that gives you a glass bowl?

We moved the primary fuel filter to the opposite side (engine side) of the same bulkhead the factory originally fits it to under the bunk, just now on reverse side in engine bay. We also then swapped the same style of 296 CAV filter to one with a glass bowl so we can keep a visual check on fuel quality. New location makes checking and servicing much simpler. Hope this helps.

My fuel filter is mounted on studs with buterfly nuts to hold it in place. On the engine side I have a reasonably long hose with a bellows in line. I just release the fuel hose at the tank side, which is easy, then lift the entire filter unit out over a bucket outside the engine bay, where I can dismantle/assemble it with ease & no mess. Then put it back & pump the bellows to rid the system of excess air.
One point to note is that in the first 2 years of ownership of my new Hanse I suffered with air leaks & it drove me crazy. I eventually found that Hanse had fitted a clone of the CAV ( Now Delphi) filter. Once I changed to the proper unit I had no problems.
I further understand that many owners have changed to Racnor spin on units.
