The master cabin windows have been slowly accumulating water in between the panes recently while at the dock. For reference, it's a newer 588 and the windows are by Lewmar. The black sikaflex on the exterior doesn't look like it's lost integrity, however it clearly has since water is getting inside the window unit. The aft windows don't appear to have any condensation or water accumulated, it's only the two foremost windows.

I am aware back in earlier years Hanse had a known issue of the wrong sealant being used and the windows fully falling off... this doesn't appear to be the same issue, but still a major cause for concern as our Hanse isn't old or heavily sailed yet to explain for such an issue.

Has anyone else run into this? We are debating how to begin going about repairing or replacing them... I don't see the windows listed on the Hanse Boatoon site.

on my unit #55, no leak in the front cabin windows. however, a friend pointed out that in the port rear cabin there is a little sign of a very tiny leak on the wood of the little window in the hull. it's very minor , and it could also be condensation ...but I am monitoring it. I am interested to know how you plan intervening ...

btw: how do you know who manufactures the windows ?is the water inside the boat or just between two panes? I didn't know they had two panes, and even a gap...

I don’t believe there are two panes so where is the condensation or leak?

The manufacturer, Lewmar, has their name printed on the window along with a lens number for referencing. I am unsure what yours are, but ours on the 588 are indeed double pane and the water is between the panes... If you press the window, you are able to see the water move between the panes. Lewmar confirmed via email this is a Hanse installation error, so I plan to reach out to them tomorrow to start the ball rolling on a repair.

I can't see the lewmar label. is it visible from the inside of the hull?should I conclude it's not a lewmar window on #55?

Maybe Hanse changed to double pane on later models. I can’t understand what the advantage would be. Insulation is not really a factor on these boats with all the single pane overhead hatches on deck.
