Here are some pics of how I have set my boat up for those who are interested. Elsewhere on the forum people are talking about the short comings of Hanse. I experienced some of those, but I suspect that I would experience some with any new boat. My issues are being worked out, but Hanse is listening and helping me. I view that as a positive. The thing I like the most about how the dealer set up the boat is the chart plotter. I also think the outboard jib sheeting is key for sail shape. The other interesting thing is that the jib uses German sheeting too. The downside is that I lose the first reef point. Anyway, here are the pics. I would love to how others have set their boats up.

Hi Jon
Great looking boat. I have noted a couple of things. Firstly, you are using the highest hole for the jib sheet attachment. Is this your 'best' attachment point or just where the dealer left it? Secondly, I note you haven't got the black plastic covers over the storage areas either side of the companionway in the cockpit. Have you removed the lids or have Hanse changed the spec here? We have just completed our first 'summer' cruise on High Time - 3 weeks around northern France and can say we are very happy with the boat to live on for an extended period. There are a couple of niggles we have discovered though. Firstly the holding tank is far too small - it needs emptying every day if you want to avoid overflow (which leaves a nasty looking stain on the topsides)! This will not be easy to improve, apart from using less water to flush, but then run the risk of calcium(?) build-up in the pipe. Secondly, the bed base in the forepeak creaks badly when you move on it and the mattress is a bit 'thin'. These problems should be easy to correct, though, with a bit of stiffening on the base board and a memory foam topper on the mattress. Regarding the outboard genoa tracks, I have rigged a 4 to 1 handy billy that I attach to the base of the shrouds and sheet the job outside the guardwires using this, lead back to the cockpit. It works really well from about 50 degrees AWA. I haven't got a downwind sail yet. Finally, there was no jammer provided for the jib furling line so I added a turning block on the quarter with a small spinlock jammer in front. This avoids using the stern cleat or winch to secure the furling line. Overall it's a great boat. We are very pleased with the sailing performance, and love the IMF! When I get some time I will post a few pictures of the set-up on High Time.

Roger,
I think my dealer still has those lids. I will check and thanks for reminding me. Re jib sheet, I will have to play with. I think we were going to attach the inboard sheets to that point to lessen leach flutter. We motor sailed most of the way down and the boat handled pretty choppy conditions very well. |

I agree that the bed in the fore peak creaks a lot! It hasn't kept me up though. Also not really sure what to do about fixing it. Maybe wax? I am not sure if there is enough space to add stringers or not. I did run out to Costco and purchase a memory foam topper for the v berth. I got a queen size topper and cut it to size. This has made the v berth akmost as comfortable as the bed at home! I also have a line stopper for the furling line.
My friend Doug got a bigger holding tank for his 370, so that is an option. Maybe it could go behind the aft bulkhead? I haven't really looked though. |

Roger, I also noted the thin matresses when finalising the spec during the Genoa boat show.
We opted for the thicker viscoelastic matresses and decided that the extra 1500.- € would be a good "sleeping" investment

I've also just noticed - did you not get a cockpit table lamp? There is a socket on the top of the table near the companionway into which the lamp fixes on High Time. I don't see this on your table? Maybe it came with one of the 'packages' - I can't remember.

Hi Jon
We used blocks of wood on top of water tank and a towel to eliminate berth creaks! Our first attempt was using rolled up socks, then we put weather stripping along entire edge. The combination worked. Mike & Cathy |
