Hi to all,
In my hanse 588, both black water sensors are completely stuck, and don't measure any level, while the water tank goes from 0 to 49% when it seems full. I have noticed the various comments on the forum on the relatively low quality of the factory sensors, and I had thought of upgrading them to nmea2000 sensors, allowing the monitoring to happen remotely and to create all possible alarms. This would allow to install a flow meter on the fuel too, I am very surprised not to have this information neither on the volvo controls nor on the b&g... Is it normal? Did anybody do a nmea2000 sensors upgrade already? Any experience, suggestions or feedback? I am new to this boat that I love without conditions... |

Take a look at Yacht Devices for an N2K engine monitor. On my basic Volvo it gives revs, temp and alternator voltage but not fuel usage. I'm hoping to get more on the larger Yanmar in the 458.
What you get depends on what your engine puts on the Canbus. The guys at YD will advise what you can expect from your engine.

Not sure if you have the old WURTH display or the new CZONE stuff, but the display is 50% of the issue in my opinion. I moved to Maretron ultrasonic sensors with reading tubes. They have a NMEA 2000 cable if that is what you want, also providing simple voltage output (as opposed to the resistance based float sensors). One has been rock solid since installed, reading accurately and not needing any maintenance. The other has gotten "stuck readings" twice and I've had to rinse the tank twice to clear it. Ultrasonic works better, but its not perfect.
