2 nice new solar panels sould help keep the batteries topped up this year. All the other problems will have to be paid for by me!

Nice to hear that our 'mistresses' are being catered for (or just cleaned, in Mark's case...!).  I echo Matt's selection of a new mattress.  I did that last year and it was one of the best investments I made towards a good sleep - reducing fatigue and therefore increasing safety.  For the same reason I also added a very thick mattress topper to go over the sofa which with a lee-cloth is our sea berth underway, and where I sleep at anchor.  That too made a tremendous difference.

Now - time to think about New Year's resolutions onboard.  I won't be making any as my many previous attempts to limit 'colourful and creative language' have ended in total failure.  My wife charges me £1 towards her shoe fund every time such is said, yet I'm genetically unable to keep quiet given the challenges presented by increasing numbers of people without the first idea of the COLREGS or etiquette of sailing.  She has a very large shoe locker....

That’s reassuring to hear about the mattress as it felt a bit indulgent - can I ask who you used to make it?

Certainly - Contact Marine Bedding Company - Marine Bedding Company.  If you're cheeky and ask if they'd extend the boat show discount.....Big smile
