Does any one use the multimedia c-map reader to exchange data between PC and plotter?. I'm not able to install the drivers for the card reader. Can some one help?

The chances are the drivers aren't properly installed. It has taken me some time (on and off since May) to get things sorted, but then I am using it all on a Mac via Boot Camp.
C-map help is fairly useless. The start is to go to www.c-map.com/upload/file/210.pdf and read the leaflet on removing c-map from your system. Folow instrcutions carefully, particualarly if you need to use Step 4. If you are using Vista, you're on your own! I managed it today but what a fuss. After that I have downloaded v11.04 from the Italian website, together with only the appropriate driver for your card reader. If you have the orange 3 slot with serial number above 706.xxxx only use the USBMMCR version. Loading incorrect or other drivers is strongly not recommended. If you have a CD version (I do but it's 11.03) follow install instructions carefully. Oddly I have only succeeded by going a different install route. Caution: this is the opposite of what the makers recommend and it may only be that it works because I am running a Mac with Vista or XP SP3 running under Boot Camp. However, if all else fails it might be worth a go. I connected the reader, then installed driver. Check with Device Manager that it's visible. You should see an entry for c-map; click on it and it should say MMCR. Then load PC-Planner application. Running PC-Planner should now NOT be marked Demo mode and should have a dialogue for you to insert a number, which you will need to get from their website. If it says demo still, have a cry/cup of coffee/large whiskey and start whole thing over again. It works in the long run. With a little luck and a fair few repetitions of the whole saga you will end up with a usable system. If using File Manager, please don't forget to format your memory card which you will be using to transfer routes etc to Chartplotter. My apologies for lengthy post, but it's taken me so long to get sorted that I thought you might appreciate a how-to which at least worked for me. |

Thanks for your answer. I tried everything several times. I work with Vista and i was not able to get it to work. I had it to work on my XP desktop. I also have an old laptop running on Milenium, i will try to get it to work on that. |

The file/210.pdf is no more available on c-map.com
I tried for several months to install drivers for the c-map reader without succes using parallels desktop 4 and now VMWARE fusion on mac os x 10.5.6 Do you have this file on your computer and is it possible for you to send by email? You are the first to give me some hope with this device on a mac. Thanks Julien |

Thank you for this valuable piece of information. Has anyone a solution as to how to connect the PC directly to the Simrad net? I have a CX33 in the cockpit only and it would be nice to extract data from the GPS onto the computer at the chart table, if possible.
