The ventilation hose from my engine compartment on my 430e runs into the lazarette but stops there - no ventilation is provided for air to escape from the lazarette.

While this seems to work well enough to keep the engine and alternator cool, I tend to have a slight diesel odor in the cabin and am wondering if this is the culprit?

Has anyone added a vent to the lazarette, and if so, how successful was it?

On my 430 there os a small vent cover just above the deck shower fixtures at the stern starboard corner of the cockpit. The blower itself is located in the lazzaratte below the cockpit and the flexible hose is routed to a point near that vent. It's not connected to the vent, just ends very close to it. I have not noticed a diesel smell.

Yea - I noticed it shortly after pushing the send button. Not sure why I didn't notice it before. Rainy weather here in Seattle so I'm waiting for it to dry before crawling into the lazarette and figure out a route to extend the hose to the vent.

Not sure this is relevant - but I had a slight deisel smell in the starboard aft cabin - that after much investigation - originated from a leak in the engine room fan hose in the lazarette. Two pieces of this hose were improperly fitted together in the lazarette so some of the fumes from the engine compartment were winding up in the aft lazarette and pulled into the cabins - as opposed to being vented out. Once found and properly sealed my slight smell of diesel disappeared.
