Hi

After an unfortunate night on a cubie pontoon, one of my Fairleads got damaged.  Hanse in the UK do not seem to provide the screws to fit the new one.

Do any of you know what size, make, etc they are so I can search online.  The ones I took out are of two different threads, so assume it is not so important to get them exactly right.  They are the same as the toerail screws.

They are Star headed on my 315,

Would appreciate any help

Thanks

Is it an old style 315?  On my 2003 341, the toe-rail screws actually screw into a 5cm square plate under the deck that acts as a nut/backing plate.  I do not know about the fairlead screws.

The screws that hold down the toe rail on my 315 [2007] are self taping 6mm OD.
I am not sure about fairlead bolts., I will go to boat later and check.
However my experience with both this 315 and my previous 301 [which used same self tapping screws] was that as the yacht ages the screws pull back [ give] in the fibre glass, eventually leading to deck/hull joint leak. On 301 I replaced all deck self tapping screws with 6mm A4 SS countersunk machine screws [a difficult job to access the inside]; exactly why the manufacturers us self tapping. On my 315 in 2023 when I encountered first deck leak [near stantion base] I bought 100 M6 [cheaper by the 100] screws nuts and washers. So far I have replaced 25 on aft starboard side.
I will let you know about fairlead bolts, but I would use M6 AA grade SS, put nuts on back or use a 1" wide 3-4mm thick this stainless or 4-6 mm Aluminium strip inside to spread load. Bed the fairlead down with suitable marine grade sealer.

Hi Samuel

I found this company yesterday, and sent for some screws, let’s hope they fit.  They were very helpful.

Thank you all for your help,

Yes I use westfield fastenings good quality, price, fast delivery
I attach a photo going from left to right
2 toe rail bolts from my 315 [note the coarse self tapping thread possibly for GRP]
and for comparison a standard M6 threaded bolt and on right an M8 machine screw.
