Looking for a system to hold locker open. Obvious is a loop of something hanging from inside hatch to something on outside but not sure what. Thought of loop to go over winch, which is good if you are not sailing. Putting hook on backrest means it gets in the way of someone.

Gas strut would be good, but probably expensive?

If you have a good system, would appreciate you telling how and posting a pic.

Agree that a strut would be cool. I have just looped the mainsheet around the open lazarette hatch and then around the self-tailer on the winch.

I used a spring like the one that is used to keep the fridge open. Works well.

The gas strut would be great, but I just keep a bungee cord in each locker and loop it over the lip of the lazarette and the lifeline.
