watertight compartment

   Dear Hanse owners,
has anybody improved your boat so that you have watertight compartments?

After a collision with either a container or ( in the Mediterranean) with an Orca boats have lost their rudder and got a big hole in the hull. Water came in and they were sinking. 

Another boat was sinking ( a Bavaria, see mjambo in Facebook) after a collision in the south Atlantic.

I thought of constructing a bulkhead between the place of the rudder and the salon. Do you have any experience?
