Lost reef line in the boom

After the winter while installing the sails I made a stupid mistake and did not put a proper 8-knot at the aft end of the reef line and pulled the front part. Now the aft end of the reef line disappeared into the boom.

I opened the end of the boom, unfortunately the glider is at the very front and unreachable. 

Does anybody have an idea how I can move the glider back to retrofit the line properly?

We broke a reefing line and ended up in the same situation. We joined two boat hooks together (with gaffer tape) which just gave enough reach and pushed the boat hook into the aft of the boom end and hooked onto the car and pulled it back to the aft end. I saw the riggers in Greifswald do it once and they used a ling batten with a hook at the end do the same thing.

Sail battens are very useful to push from the mast end.   Always better if you can find one to borrow rather than having to deconstruct your main :)

See how other sailors did it be taking out the "reefing-car". Quite useful I think:
