Check that there are no stainless washers between the fuse and the lug! Very common misstake.

A lot of DIY boat electrical installations are to a very poor, sometimes dangerous standard.
Unfortunately 'internet forum' culture is full of inexperienced experts telling inexperienced boat owners how to install complex electrical equipment. Good you got that problem sorted.
