Hi
I recently purchased from Barka new motors for my cockpit tables but my engineer says that they don't fit. The new motors supplied by Barka are completely cylindrical and the old motors have flat spots in the casing so as to locate and seat the motor.Several of you have actually replaced these motors on several occasions.I am away from my boat at present for the next couple of weeks. I would really appreciate any information or experiences that can be shed on the situation before I get back to Barka on this matter Happy New Year to all Duncan |

They are cylindrical without flats. This image is from the Scandvik/Barka procedure. I'll PM you the full thing. The hardest part, I found, was managing the very short wire leads from the cockpit floor. I didn't have much slack at all to solder them to the motor leads. The other little tip is thinking through the clearance you'll need for your tools for disassembly & re-assembly, but that just saves you time. It wasn't difficult.
Maybe worth checking that you have Scandvik (if US) part 09600 or Barka part 15010. ![]() Edited by Lyn - 12 January 2025 at 16:31 |

Many thanks to Lyn for sending me the info about the table motor.
However I have just received a pic of my old motor which has a flat side in the casing and the finish on the casing seems to be very different. Please see pic of my old motor. Any comments would be much appreciated.Gale Force is a 2014 575 and Barka told me that the part 15010 is the correct part which is what they have sent me. Cheers ![]() Duncan

In my opinion, they should replace the whole unit, which would require re-termination of the electrical connections rather than trying to save the housing (if that's what they're trying to do). The motor itself is constrained/held in place by the 4 small bolts in the pedestal base, accessed from the underside of the pedestal base. The pedestal base is held firm to the cockpit floor by the 4 larger countersink bolts. The unconstrained end is what causes the table to move up or down when meshed with the gears. The alignment of the motor to the table ... yes, that is determined by where you orient the motor into the gears. Your tech might just need to make an attempt at checking alignment before assembling.
