Dear All,

I am skipper of Hanse 630#17 Nereida. We have had to change from a stainless steel Exhaust water/muffler box to a vetus MGP plastic box. I have lots of photos if any one needs them.

The problem with the stainless box is the welding tends to corrode and eventually leak. If you have a stainless steel box then it is well worth checking that the welds are ok.

Dear Nereida

Check the water and fuel tank they have same corrosion problem due to the rustic and dirt SS welding made by careless plumbers in Poland.

I don't know what you expect to win  or what they did to you. What I know is that I am completely BORED from the constant negative publicity, reaching to the point of libels, against Hanse.

According to Meriam webster English dictionary libel means:

So to have a libel the statement has to be UNJUST.

Ok... Check now the pictures of my tanks taken in Guadeulope Is after the Atlantic crossing.

we arrived to Guodeloupe with 5 liters of Diesel, after ten days of dead calm with the suspect of a small diesel leaking in one of our tanks.

I have four tanks of diesel and only two of water as my yacht was prepared for long cruising.

So now look at the stainless steel weldings inside the tank.

Baaaad Uhhh? if fact is that a welding?

Do you know why?. Ok I will explain why.

SS welding is not SS. is another metal. The presence of heat and DIRT the welding results in a different alloy.

Between different metals corrosion occurr because the galvanic voltage between to dissimilar metals a eats the lowest potential as in a battery.

In fact batteries work that way.

Every welding professional should know that. SS welding have to be made in ARGON clean atmosphere to avoid DIRT to enter the welding forming a different metal.

The corrosion is heavy in my tanks. I have one leaking already.

Next "Libel". "Poland"

I have nothing against Poland, but the tanks are marked " Made by Mastpol in Poland". So again sorry but those tanks were made in Poland by a plumber because a professional welder will never make a "welding" like the ones you can see in my tanks.

But let me tell you something else:

Did you know what is cost and encumbrance of replacing six SS tanks in any Hanse.... TENS OF THOUSAND OF EUROS.

You have to dismantle the full interior of the yacht to proceed.

So before replying to my posts with libel acusations, take a miniature camera and take some pics of your tanks.

Thanks to your post while checking the pics for my reply: I have found one that is good to illustrate the meaning of DIRT.

Check the picture: This is one broken drill bit that we have found inside the tank while cleaning the rubbish we have found inside our tanks.

How do you expect the tanks to survive without corrosion is loose alien metal contaminants are found inside the tanks?

Where is the quality control?

hi all
i feel i have to input here with some facts
the tanks are made of a thin stainless grade unknown and welded on the outside, what you see on the inside is not dirt or corrosion but porosity
this is caused because the welder probably had his welding set too high and the metal on the inside of the tank melted and was not shielded by his argon gas, therefore the weld is contaminated by oxygen.
 
if the tank whilst being welded was gas purged by means of blowing argon gas into the tank with all holes taped up this would not have happened.
