On my H400 from 2010 there is an anode just on the port side of the engine. I am not able to get a new one like this.
It is connected to grounding cable on the inside
(Thruhullbolts)
I have talked to the Norwegian dealer, but they have not even heard about this anode.
Did anyone know where to buy this one?

http://www.msckobe.com/manufacturers/api/GROUNDING_PLATE.pdf

I don't think it right to have a grounding plate made of zink.
i think its better to have it made of copper or brons
Chek if its really an anode i think its a Grounding plate, i have one made off brons.

Alidal,

The anode looks like one available on the Hanse Shop website , email hanse@boatoon.com
They call it an "anode type 15". I think you will need to advise your boat model to get the correct size.

Idelfix: Yes it is an anode.

Wayne`s World: It is the one on the Hanse Shop!
But now the boat is on the water again. Have not checked the other end of the cable connected to the anode....
I agree with Idelfix; it should not be made of zinc

Alidal,

The anode shown on the Hanse Shop website looks like a new version of the "anode" in your photo. The website shows this item as being available for the Hanse 400. The Hanse shop lists a phone number on their website so maybe a quick call to them may sort the issue out.

Hi,

It is a Vetus hull anode.  If you measure the distance between the hole centres you will be able to buy it from an online or local chandler.

It is definitely a hull anode and not a grounding plate.

Kind regards

Thanks Phil

What is the purpose of this anode? I think we are more familiar with anodes attached to saildrives and props but on the hull?

Always something more to learn!

Hi Steve,

They change what they do fairly regularly in terms of anodes and cathodic protection.  Despite being science it appears to be a dark art.

I believe the latest round of hull anodes are bonded to the keel plate and rudder stock to offer protection for them.

Kind regards
