Cheers!! funny with all the sailing i have done this year i have failed to take reasonable note of how efficient or inefficient the 470 is. It would be interesting actually as the stats the Shawn shared, off the top of my head, make the 470 sound less efficient.

Hi Brad
well I believe that the main issue is the prop. The Gori is more efficient and hence why you get better speed & less consumption. All the 470 I delivered had the flex-o-fold folding prop factory installed so unable to make comparisons with a 470 with a Gori. Hope to do so in the near future. On one occasion I was delivering a 430 & a 470. I was on the 430 (with 55hp & Gori). Running at 2200 the 470 had to run at 2600 to keep up. Shawn |

In case anyone is interested:
With 39 HP engine and the SPW VariProp 3 blade feathering prop (the only feathering prop that had no consequences for the warranty of the Yanmar SD50 sail drive), no current, no wind and no swell: 2000 RPM = 6.0 Knots (bottom of the transom at the same level as the water) 3000 RPM (full throttle) = 8.0 Knots (transom half way in the water) Did not check fuel consumption yet. |

Hi Shawn, What size Gori is best? And what size was trialled on the 430e. I tried the Gori agent in NZ and was asked all the questions like what saildrive and ratio which I couldnt answer off the top of my head but gave him all the other info. He didnt even ask my name or contact. He wasnt very helpful so I sent a message to Gori and told him that the agent was useless and they should bypass to the subagent here who commissioned the boat and avoid two profit margins. Anyway Gori lit a fire under him but I am not much wiser but know I would have to pay 2600 Euros for an 18 x 15, 3 blade Gori. It was only due to this Thread that I became aware of Gori but I was not happy with the look of the folded 3 blade on my 430 for drag. Anyway the figures you guys are giving are very interesting and I think I will get one. I was also unaware of the overdrive function of the Gori and they sent me a copy of a test with a "B" boat 44 Vision against a Volvo 3 blade. But they had a 20 inch compared with an 18 inch. Were the figures you gave in overdrive and how does the overdrive work? I wish I had been aware of this info at time of ordering as I understand now it was an option.

Well it depends on the engine size you have. We just got another 430e with the same Gori prop we installed on our first 430e and during the odd 900m delivery trip, it matched well with the other 430e figures
