We have had the sail modified to take a 3rd reef and cunningham.
We have now found that we have run out of clutches and turning blocks at the base of the mast.
There are 5 clutches on each side.
Port side - Port spin-Halyard, Jib Halyard, 2nd reef, Main sheet and Vang
Stb side - Stb Spin Halyard, 1st Reef, main Halyard, Jib Sheet and Outhaul
I am happy with the cunningham being opperated at the mast via block and tackle. but I would like the 3rd reef to be operated from the cockpit.
When putting the 1st reef in, the cunningham sheet was to be changed to the 3rd reef strop ready for reefing if required.
Has an body got a different set up. I could give up the port Spin Halyard but I like having 2 spare halyards available for emergencies. Or as the Self taking Jib Halyard is rarley used after the stretch has been taken out we could transfer this to the mast. But we would then be in trouble if we changed to a genoa !!
Any advice please.
Ken

Hi Ken
On our 540 with the 3rd reefing line, we decided to have 2 line reefing and to connect the spinnaker halyard to the 3rd reefing line used. The leach reefing line was brought back to the cockpit.
So the spinnaker halyard can be used as a spinnaker halyard at any time except when we are using the third reef.
You might be able to do this with your spinnaker halyard using single line reefing on your 3rd reef.
