I own a Hanse 411 which I have sailed on the South coast of England and to the West Coast of Sweden. I am thinking of having a bow thruster fitted - does anyone with a 411 have a bow thruster and what are your views on them - can you also please advise the make and model fitted
Thanks!!

Hi, I have installed a Vetus 75 KGF( 6 HP) on our 411. I think the size is OK for a 411 and it is a great help in certain situations. Erno |

Dear Baltic Moon, We have also installed a Vetus 75 kgf. You know what they say. Out of 10 times 8 times you won't need it, 1 time it was usefull and 1 time it saves you for damages! We placed a Optima dry cell battery next to the thruster in the front. It has a high capacity and is rather light because of the dry cells. It is also operated from the steering wheel as well as a wireless remote control which my wife can clip onto her trouserband and makes it possible to operate it from the bow (I am always behind the steering, she does the heavy work

Dear Bandy,
Some questions about the bowthruster, I have a Hanse 411:
Vetus suggest the V75. It's very big, what will be the speed loss with this big hole in the boat?
It's possible to use the V65?
It's possible to use the onbord battery (I have three battery's) and avoid to buy another one?
Thank for the answer,
Barbarigo-Aries

Dear Barbarigo, I have a vetus 75 on mine 411 and after to seasons mine opinion is that you need the 75 in the situations you "realy need" a bowtruster. I don`t think you see any speed differens if you are monting a 65 or 75. Best regards,
Erno

Thank you Erno.
do you think that the boat loss a lot of speed under sail or motor with the bowthruster? You had a new battery express for the bowthruster?
regards
Barbarigo

Hi Barbarigo,
Maybe you misunderstood , but I don`t think there is any speed differanse you will notice . neither under sail or motor.
We have a battery of 120 amp for the bowthruster. Our boat has a total of five battery`s . 1 for starting and 4 for haljardwinch. bowtruster, electr. anchorwinch and so.
