My sea water strainer was located on the back of the wooden panel which runs over the top of the engine with the spiral wound pipes running up to it across the front of the exhaust water lock. On one of my routine inspection I noticed dust on the small rings around the water lock in the area of the sea water pipes. On closer inspection I found that both pipes were badly worn as they had been rubbing against the body of the water lock, and on one pipe the metal reinforcement was exposed.
While replacing the pipes I decided to move the strainer to the centre of the wooden panel but on the front. I now have access to get two hands on the strainer lid and can easily see the whole contents, rather than just the third I could see before. .Bob
